Preface

\r\n 　　Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu, which means to lead Yangtze River water through the Changshu hydro-junction of Wangyu River, and then through the Wangting hydro-junction into Taihu, improves the effective supply capacity of water resources in the basin, accelerates the flow of water, promotes self-purification capacity and shortens the changing water cycle in Taihu, which eventually helps fulfill the aim of “controlling the static with dynamic, diluting sewage with clean water, enriching the depleted with the rich, so as to improve the water quality”.

\r\n 　　Since 2002, Taihu Basin Authority of the Ministry of Water Resources (hereinafter referred to as TBA) has organized two provinces and one city in the basin to implement the project---Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu. After the diversion test of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu from 2002 to 2003, and expanding the diversion test of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu in 2004, the task has been into the long-term run since 2005. At present, TBA conducts the real-time scheduling according to Flood and Water Scheduling Scheme in the Taihu Basin. Annual Report on Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu (hereinafter referred to as Annual Report) is a comprehensive report on reflecting annual work of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu. The main contents include water and rainfall information in the Taihu Basin, work of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu, diversion effectiveness and important issues, etc, which can give reference to the work of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Taihu.

\r\n 　　The data used in Annual Report is the real-time telemetry data. All stations in the Taihu Basin take Zhenjiang-Wusong water (tide) level base, except for Shanghai Station which takes Sheshan-Wusong base.
