On September5th, Pentti Lähteenoja, Finnish chairman oftheSino-Finnish Joint SteeringCommittee on water　resourcesmanagement　cooperation, led a delegation　to the Taihu BasinAuthority of Ministry of Water Resources (TBA). Zhu Yueming,Deputy Director General of TBA, attended the meeting.

Mr. Zhu extended a warm welcome on behalf of TBA tothe Finnish delegation. He highlighted TBA’s significantprogress and major achievements in strengthening basingovernance and management in recent years. Both sidesexchanged views on topics including the establishment ofan air-ground coordinated intelligent sensing system,ecological protection and restoration of lakes, digital twinlake construction, and sharing successful experiences inlake governance. They also discussed matters concerningthe new phase of the Sino-Finnish cooperationon waterresources managementbetween TBA, the FinnishEnvironment Institute (SYKE), and the Pihai Lake ResearchInstitute.

The Finnish delegation expressed high appreciation forTBA’s achievements in lake governance, management, anddigital twin water conservancy construction. They voicedagreement with TBA’s proposed cooperation priorities and affirmed their willingness to deepen collaboration in areasincluding joint applications for intergovernmentalinternational scientific and technological innovationcooperation projects,the co-organization of specializedacademic seminars, and reciprocal visits. This aims tojointlypromote talent cultivation and establish aforward-looking innovative partnership.

Representatives of relevant departments and units　of TBA, andmembers of　Taihu Basin Shallow Lake EcosystemObservation and Research Station, Ministry of Water Resources (MWR), and representatives from KeyLaboratory of Taihu Basin Water Resources Research and Management, MWR, participated in the meeting.
